Summer Vacation 2011 - Day 14: Visiting the Landis Family

Cleaning and Packing day. Probably one of my least favorite parts of a trip… it means vacation’s just about over. Boo! It went pretty smoothly, all things considered. We cleaned out the trailer, and all the rooms the kids played in. We ran loads of laundry. We packed coolers. We made breakfast for the morning. We packed suitcases, and we loaded it all in the van. The kids had mentioned wanting new San Diego t-shirts as souvenirs and Nana got very excited about the idea, so we took a break from our packing and took the kids out to Beaumont Park at Mission Beach to pick out t-shirts from the gift shops. We miraculously found a parking spot, immediately, and it was right next to the entrance to Beaumont Park. Crazy luck! The kids picked out their shirts and we headed back to Lakeside. It was quite a quick trip, especially when we were able to hop on the 54 and bypass all the rush hour traffic on the 8 that was backing up very quickly. When we got back, my Uncle Mark, Aunt Nora and cousins Michael and Matthew came over and we grilled up the Carne Asada we picked up in Wildomar on Wednesday. I have a favorite little Mexican meat market that I love to go to when we are in town and it’s a great, easy dinner to share with lots of people. We got the kids off to bed, and finished out packing, and even made it to bed by midnight this time. Much better that the night before we left for California!
