I'm not one to make New Years Resolutions, for a couple reasons. First of all, I don't bother, because I don't think I'm going to remember a year from now, what it is I promised to do. Second, why do you have to do it on new years? I get the whole new year fresh start mentality, but really, why wait for new years if you want to start something? Just do it, right? Anyway, for whatever reason, I've decided to give it a try. Why not right? 2011 has been a great year for me, and I've already done a lot for myself, and I'm not done yet. I don't really need the extra accountability, but what would it hurt? So here it goes.
My 2012 New Years resolutions:
1. Project 365 - It sounds like fun. I've often considered it, but my OCD issues just won't allow me to start something like that in the middle of the year. So, 1/1/12 the Patterson 365 Project begins.
2. 6 Races - I'd like to do at least six races in 2012. I've trained for 5k's and am working my way up to a 10k in May. My mom wants me to join her for a duathalon, too, so I'll have to start training for that too. Either way, six races of some sort for 2012. It's all part of my goal for a healthier me before I turn 30.
3. Trash the Dress - Speaking of turning 30, I've decided I want to celebrate by treating myself to a Trash the Dress photo shoot. Traditionally, this is done in a wedding dress, and it looks like so much fun! My weight/health problems are finally under control again, and I've been consistently losing weight. If I can keep it up, I can be back in my wedding dress by my birthday, so this is an added incentive to continue on this healthy path.
That's it for now. I have other goals for the year, but I don't really consider them New Years Resolutions, since I can work towards them, but there are many other factors involved besides willpower or determination. These goals include finishing our basement; quitting my job to be a stay at home mom; and adoption through the foster care system. For now, I'll just keep praying for those.
Wishing everyone a great 2012!!!
