Project One 2011

Today was our annual church sponsored community service project. We loaded up the beast with all 6 kids, 2 sisters, one of their friends, armfuls of shovels, rakes, gallons of water and a whole lot of compassion.

We got to serve a local family by working on their yard for them. The husband works 11 hour days in Denver, which is easily an hours commute, and the wife has a medical condition, preventing her from doing much around their home. Our team of 19 tackled their yard, pulling weeds, back filling with dirt, landscaping with rocks, and laying new sod.

I love sharing such an awesome experience with my kids. I love how they get it. They truly understand that they are helping someone in need. Spending their day unselfishly is such a great life lesson. I'm so proud of them and all the hard work they did today.
