Day 4 - USS Midway / Harbor Cruise

Finally in San Diego! We started our fun with a stop at the information center down at the harbor where we picked up our Go Passes. These passes were purchased for one low price and will get us admission to most if not all of the activities we want to do in the coming days. After we picked up our passes we crossed the street an climbed aboard a nice big boat for an hour long Harbor excursion with Grandpa Vince. On the cruise, we could see Coronado Island, the Navy docks and some of their ships, and other various parts of downtown San Diego. After the cruise it was time for lunch at Anthony's Fish Grotto on the pier where we (well, some of us) had fresh Fish'n'Chips. Grandpa headed home after getting his fill of fresh fish and we walked down to the U.S.S. Midway, a retired Air Craft Carrier docked in the harbor and turned into a museum. The kids thought that was pretty cool, walking through the halls and rooms of the ship, and checking out the retired airplanes on the landing dock. The kids were getting tired and hungry after a long day of walking and exploring so we headed back to Lakeside and made a pit stop at Las Postas. A favorite restaurant of mine, serving "real" mexican food. I say "real" because the mexican food we get in Colorado just isn't the same. It's a real treat to indulge in a Carne Asada burrito topped with red sauce and guacamole at Las Postas. The kids enjoyed their meals too, though I'm not sure it was nearly as appreciated by them as it was by me!
