MVHS Class of 2000 Reunion

Tonight is the night of my 10 year high school reunion back home in California. 10 Years... where has the time gone? A lot has happened and a lot has changed that's for sure. As interesting as it might have been to see some old friends from high school, Jerry and I didn't go. Life's been crazy, especially in this last year - emotionally and financially mostly. So for lots of life reasons, I'm home tonight, and that is fine by me. But I thought I might as well at least give my thoughts on the last 10 years and what I've been up to. Here is a brief recap of my last decade:

June 2000 I graduated high school. Summer was pretty uneventful for me. I had full time job, as a tow truck dispatcher and I spent plenty of time out with my friends. By early 2001 I moved out to my own place with a friend/ex boyfriend, Chris, who eventually became my boyfriend again. We ended up married in 2002, and had a baby boy soon after. I also had changed jobs and was working as an inspector in the quality department of a manufacturing company. I spent much of 2003 and 2004 working and raising my baby, and really not much else. 2005 was an eventful year. We had another baby - a girl this time, and Chris took a job opportunity that moved us to Colorado. This move allowed me to develop more of a relationship with my dad and his family, who were all ready living in Colorado as well. I started a new job in the Quality Department of another manufacturing company, where I have worked my way up over the last 5 years. Soon after our move, my parents in California moved out to Colorado to be close to us still. In 2006 Chris and I split. Life was not good and we were no longer capable of making our marriage work. I also met someone in 2006, and although neither of us were looking for relationships, our pasts were far to similar to not at least try a friendship to help each other through the tail ends of our divorces. Well it turned out that we had a lot more in common than our ugly pasts and Jerry and I were married in 2008, combining our total of 6 kids into one new family. Raising a blended family has had it's share of ups and downs, but 2009 and now well into 2010 have been really good. We took our first official family vacation in June of 2009 and went for a second in 2010. The kids are amazing, smart, generous, polite, and respectful. I have a wonderful family and couldn't be happier.

I hope my friends and classmates that did attend the reunion had a great time. I miss many of them, and look forward to another opportunity to get in touch and catch up on life with them. But for now, I'm content. Life may be crazy, but life is good.
