For summer vacation this year, we loaded up the kids and took them back to Iowa. We got to spend the week visiting family and friends, and touring the state :) We spent two days at the Iowa State Fair where we ate way to much junk food (often available on a stick) rode some rides, wandered the booths and had a great time. The kids also got to participate in a chess tournament while we were at the fair.

(Deep fried, Chocolate dipped twinkie on a stick - topped with whipped cream and nuts)

We took the kids to the Iowa Science Center on Friday because the weather was calling for rain all day so we figured it best to stay in doors. We ended up buying an annual pass because it will also give us admission to the Denver Museum so that was an extra special treat :)

On our last day, we spend the morning at the Zoo (which was also included on our science center pass!) with Great Grandpa Edwards, and Grandma Debbie.

After the Zoo, we went home and packed our stuff. We did a last load of laundry and got everything ready to load in the car before we went and had dinner at Aunt Cathy's and headed to a baseball game. The Iowa Cubbies (Chicago Cubs Farm Team) was home Saturday night, so we treated the kids to a game while secretly hoping that keeping them up late would result in kids sleeping longer on the ride home rather than crabby kids fighting all the way.... Fortunately for us, the Cubbies won, and so did the parents. The kids slept in the car longer than they normally do, and we had a peaceful drive home.
