Jerry and I got a kid free weekend while Caleb and Lily went camping with Grandma and Grandpa, so we decided to take advantage and celebrate our anniversary a little early. Between our summer vacation, Kids starting school, and the start of the soccer season we figured we weren't going to have much time to celebrate on our anniversary in August anyway. I had bought tickets for Nate and I to go to the baseball game this weekend (Rockies v. Cubs) but that fell through because it was the week that his mom picked for her two weeks of summer vacation with the kids, so this is what we planned our weekend around. I told Jerry I'd let him be my back up date :) We dropped the kiddos off at my dad's house and headed to Denver Friday night. We had dinner at a cute little Mexican restaurant in the DTC and then went back to our hotel room to plan the rest of our weekend. Saturday we spent the day in down town Denver where we went to the Museum of Contemporary Arts, and walked around the 16th street mall. We went to the Tattered Cover, because no date is complete without a trip to the bookstore, and bought a few books.

We had a late lunch and then headed back to the hotel to get cleaned up. Saturday evening was the baseball game so we put on our team shirts and headed to the light rail station. The game was awesome, even though I was surrounded by blue shirts. Rockies were in the lead, the cubs tied it up, they held each other until the bottom of the 9th when the Rockies came up for their first at bat and Gonzales hit a homer. Game over! After the game we stopped by a pool hall where Jerry and I took turns whooping each other at 9 ball.

Sunday morning, we ordered room service for breakfast :) and then found a local church to check out since we weren't going to make it to ours. After getting lost, we still managed to find it and barely arrived on time to enjoy their Sunday service. After church we drove around Denver and stopped by another bookstore -Westside Books. It was brightly painted but yet we still managed to drive right by it the first time... I'm sensing a trend here, and I wasn't even the one driving! Anyway, Westside books is a unique used bookstore - and I'm not just talking about their exterior paint job. They have every genre of books, and some of them were very very old. They had complete sets of encyclopedias and series published a hundred or so years ago, books that were published last summer, and everything in between. We had fun spending a couple hours there, and bought a few books of course! After that, it was time to head north and pick up our munchkins and treat Grandma and Grandpa to dinner for taking our kids camping. We had a great weekend, and I love my husband so much!
