I think it's funny that people poke fun at me for my extreme dislike for snow. It's truly not an overreaction. Yes I ranted about my dislike yesterday, but take a look at how my day went when the storm hit... I left my house this morning at my typical 4:45 am. It just started to snow very lightly as I was pulling onto the street. No big deal. Got my daughter dropped of at my mom's and headed south for the remaining 45 minutes of my commute. About halfway to work it started coming down a bit harder, but nothing to worry about at this point. It wasn't until I was walking from my car to the office when it really started to dump. And once it started, it didn't stop. The maintenance crew was shoveling the walks only to turn around and shovel another 2 inches when they finished. At 1030, we found out the kids' school was closing, and my dear husband called and asked me to come home because conditions were getting dangerous and it was only predicted to get worse. So I did, er, well, I tried. I offered to take home a laptop to finish my work at home, and so I would hopefully not have to come in first thing tomorrow morning before the plows got out and cleaned up, but my boss declined and sent me on my way. Well my poor little beetle bug barely made it out of the parking lot (the snow was a foot deep) but everything seemed ok as I got onto the main highway. I made it a whole 10 miles before my check engine light came on and my car started to shake. Slightly panicked I pulled into the hospital parking lot because I knew it was the last safe place for me to pull off for the next 20+ miles. And that's where I sat for the following 3 hours while my mom and husband situated children. My mom finally came and got me but my car is still there...
And this is why snow is not fun. I should have called in sick.
