We’ve been counting down the days to this fun run for
months! Registration finally opened in February, and we jumped on signing up
our team first thing that morning. Phil 4:13 quickly grew to a team of 14 right
before they sold out of spots. May 26th felt so far off, it was crazy!
But we were plenty pumped by the time it finally arrived. Dressed in white
shirts and tutu’s, we made our way to Denver and met up with the rest of our
team. Lined up at the start line, we got hit with a little pre-race color when
some of the other excited runners couldn’t wait to dirty up their white gear,
and when the gun went off, we were on our way into a full on 5k color
explosion. Kelsey and I paired up, and decided to mostly walk and goof off.
Fine by me, since my training has sucked and I have a 10k to tackle on Monday…
They were a little stingy with the orange at the 1k station.
We slowed down through the 2k station for some blue. At the 3k station, they
were kinda crazy with the yellow, and even called it “Shampoo”. At the 4k
station, we got a dose of the evil green – and if you think I’m kidding, check
out Lily’s post-race, twice washed hair… still green. When we hit the 5k mark,
it was across the finish line and to the stage where everyone was setting off
their remaining bags of color into a big cloud of color, and where the
volunteers were tossing out bags of more color and I caught a bag of red.
Kelsey still had her green so we met back up with part of our group and had fun
with the last two bags of color. The race wasn’t timed, but some of us ran run
keeper anyway.
Lily and Honey finished around
42ish minutes,
Kelsey and I finished around 54ish minutes,
And Caleb and Kimberly finished somewhere in between
