Mommy/Daddy Dates

While mommy and daddy need to go on dates, our newest family tradition of Mommy/Daddy dates are really an opportunity for Jerry and I to take turns having one on one time with out kids. 6 kids keep us busy, and one on one time isn't something that comes easily. So Jerry and I borrowed an idea we got from another couple in our blended families small group and tweaked it to work for us. Jerry and I each get a "Date" with one of our kids, once a month, where we go out just the two of us to enjoy a little bonding time. I was a little skeptical as to how the kids would react, but I shouldn't have been. I think I was mostly concerned because Jerry's four go back and forth on their feelings towards me and I wasn't so sure they'd want one on one time with me. So far, it's gone well though, and I really do think the kids are loving their dates.
